Shadowing the Carnegie Shortlist - we're on our way!
Just one week on from the announcement of the Carnegie 2016 Shortlist and the Beaumont Book Club has already got its teeth into the eight titles on the list. There is great excitement amongst the students, who are looking forward to shadowing the Shortlist in the weeks ahead. As shadowers, they must read all eight books...one of the Book Club students has already read six of the Shortlist!
The Library Team are also enjoying the shortlisted books which are all brilliantly written, as you would expect from contenders for the prestigious Carnegie Medal. Mrs Mayer-Khan and Mrs Hicks are currently reading Lies We Tell Ourselves, which tells the story of the desegregation of all-white schools in 1950s America. Mrs Shepard is enjoying Five Children on the Western Front which is set against the backdrop of World War 1. Why not have a look at the following website for more information on the eight shortlisted books:
We would love to hear from all our students who are reading any of the eight books. Let us know what you think!
