Explore the Carnegie Medal shortlist, and be inspired!

The Library team would like to invite all our students to get involved with this year's Carnegie Medal book award by reading any of the eight titles shortlisted for the prestigious book prize. The award, which is often described by authors as 'the one they want to win', is supported by an amazing website:

The website has a fantastic amount of information on the shortlisted titles, including plot summaries and exclusive clips of the authors talking about their books and reading extracts from them.

Mrs Mayer-Khan, Mrs Hicks and Mrs Shepard have now read all eight titles and would recommend each of them. Please feel free to come and ask us about the shortlist; we love to discuss the books and each have our favourites!

But don't just take our word for it; the Beaumont Book Club , who are shadowing the shortlist, have posted their own reviews on the Carnegie website. These can be accessed by going to the 'Shadowing' tab, choosing 'Reading Groups' and searching for 'Beaumont Readers'.

All Beaumont students who read one of the shortlist are welcome to post a review on our web page. If you would like to do so, please see one of the Library team who will give you a user name and password. There is a prize for all those who post a review!

We would encourage all our students to read one of the contenders for the Carnegie Medal award. The books on the shortlist are inspiring, funny, emotional, thought-provoking, exciting, tear-jerking and mind-blowing. Come along to the library to discover one today...and join the debate!

The winner of the Carnegie Medal will be announced on Monday 20th June.
