• Know what you want to say. Good logical reasons why you're right, backed up with evidence or illustration, are the heart of any speech.
• Know who you're speaking to. The target of any speech is the audience, so you have to consider what will get them interested and what will persuade them.
• Good public speaking is about being genuine and credible. Use your own voice.
• Know where your speech is going. The best ideas are forgettable without a structure - beginning, middle, end; logical progression.
