Beaumont hosts the Red House Book Discussion Day
On Monday 26th January Beaumont acted as host for the Red House Book Award discussion. Beaumont students were joined by pupils from Sandringham School, Chancellor's School, Marlborough School and Parmiter's School. After a lively discussion amongst the students, Sophie McKenzie's book "Split Second" was voted their favourite. The students votes will be sent to Red House to be counted in the national vote and the results will be announced on the 21st February.
The author Dave Cousins joined the group and gave a funny and informative account of his writing career. He read extracts from two of his novels, "15 Days Without a Head" and "Waiting for Gonzo"
"Join me on my journey to becoming an author. From being turned down for the NASA space program, via eight years as a minor rock star and lots of reading and writing in between. Along the way, I discuss the inspiration for my stories and how learning to "sleep-type" helped me finish my first novel."
