Beaumont students attempt world record
On Wednesday 6 February Beaumont Library was the scene for an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record. Sixty year 7 and 8 students joined thousands of students in over 100 other schools across the UK taking part in "Parallel Universes", a story writing workshop attempting to set a new Guiness World Record for the most people writing a story on one day.
Award-winning author Matt Haig, the recently appointed writer-in-residence for Booktrust, had written the start of a story. The students in each school then took over writing the story, taking it in turns to add a sentence or two so that the finished article contained contributions from each of them.
