Shakespeare 400 - 'the largest and most comprehensive soul'.

April 2016 marks the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death. To commemorate this, a series of events and activities are taking place across the country throughout the year. These include exhibitions, performances and festivals celebrating Shakespeare's work and his enduring legacy. Information on these events can be found on the following website:

The Beaumont Library has marked the anniversary with a Shakespeare display board. Why not come along to the Library and have a look. Amongst other things, you will see how many of our everyday phrases come from Shakespeare. You can also learn a few Shakespearean insults!

As part of our celebrations, Mrs Mayer-Khan will also be holding a short Shakespeare quiz for Year 7 and 8 students in the Library next week. Take a look at the Animoto on our Library blog to get ahead of the game!

The Library has a range of Shakespeare resources including plays, reference books and critical studies. We also have a number of his plays in alternative formats, such as the graphic novel series Manga Shakespeare.

Shakespeare is for everyone, so please join us in the Library to celebrate his 400th anniversary. You can also click on the link below to see what is happening locally during the St Albans' Shakespeare Festival:

'We shall never overestimate Shakespeare. Genius is immeasurable as space. Shakespeare can not be measured.'
