Beaumont Reads

Due to its popularity we have extended our whole school read until February half term.
Well over two hundred students and members of staff have been reading the book Apple and Rain by Sarah Crossan. Sarah is a prestigious writer and some of her books have been shortlisted for the Carnegie Book Award.
We are very fortunate that in March Sarah will visit Beaumont School, and students will have the opportunity to hear her talk about her career as a writer.

Beaumont Reads

Take part in the House Challenge this term and read Apple and Rain. The house that has written most book reviews by the end of February will win this competition! Seacole House is in the lead at the moment closely followed by Luther King House! Come to the Library and get your copy of Apple and Rain!

Library Events

Mrs Papanicola lead an informal session of poetry readings in the library on 8th October during lunchtime. Students and members of staff were asked to celebrate National Poetry Day by bringing along a favourite poem and it was lovely to hear such a range of different poems recited. We even had a Greek poem and an Austrian poem recited!

This is  the poem that Sophie Hodges wrote herself!

 The Newt & the Honeybee

The newt and the honeybee went to have tea,
They flew in an airplane.
They took some toys and two smelly boys.
Stuffed in a packet of grain.
The newt gazed into his cup of tea,
And sang to a single star;
“Oh beautiful bee, oh bee my love,
What a beautiful bee you are, you are, you are,
What a beautiful bee you are!”
