Matt Dickinson

Today Year 8 students were kept enthralled by the author and film-maker Matt Dickinson.  In 1996, along with Alan Hinkes, he made a successful ascent of Mount Everest. Students were given an insight into all that is involved in making such a climb.

He became the first British film-maker to film on the summit and return alive, and his film called Summit Fever has now been seen by more than twenty million people worldwide. It is acclaimed as a compelling story of human triumph and disaster.  "The Death Zone" is his written account of the expedition and is available from the Library for you to read.

Matt Dickinson has also written a new adventure series Mortal Chaos.

National Poetry Day

National Poetry Day is the 4th of October.  Look out for the poetry display in the Library.

The theme for Poetry Day is stars. The Poetry Day challenge for year 7 students is to find the 12 stars placed on doors around the school.  Each star has the name of a poet.  Find the names of all 12 poets and the Librarian will issue you with two credits.

There are many poetry books in the library, and any year 7 student who borrows a poetry book will be issued with a credit.
